Meet the solar-powered catamaran that is modeled after an amphibious crab

The latest proposal from superyacht design group Lazzarini Design is a 25-meter solar-powered amphibious catamaran.

Originally intended to be a military vehicle, the boat was given the name Pagurus, which is Latin for crab. Its shape was inspired by a big crab.

Dual propellers and twin 890 horsepower diesel engines with a top speed of 24 knots are important elements. The dual steel hulls’ screw cylinders, which are positioned along their bottoms, replenish the yacht’s batteries as it sails.

A full electric sailing mode with a six-to seven-hour range at five knots is made possible by the solar paneling on the outside of the boat.
