In one of the grandest reopenings in a week filled with such celebrations, the Crenshaw Family YMCA of Los Angeles reopened its doors on Thursday, June 17 with the dedication of upgraded athletic facilities, including new basketball courts -ball.
Officials said the improvements were made possible by donations from Jordan Brand and Russell Westbrook’s sports and apparel products. Why not? Establish.
The Center, like much of the state, lifted restrictions imposed by the pandemic this week. Businesses and public places in Los Angeles County and across California have returned to near-normal operations after capacity limits and physical requirements related to COVID-19 were lifted.
Longtime NBA star Westbrook will join them to mark the occasion:
Alan Hostrup, CEO/President of YMCA-Los Angeles;
Veda Ramsay, executive director of the Crenshaw Family YMCA; And
Comedian Young Wayne hosted the event.
Westbrook, a nine-time NBA All-Star and 2016-17 league MVP, was joined by his family, who took photos and interacted with the children and volunteers in attendance.
Youth involved in the center’s programs helped design the new sports facility, which includes vibrant sports-flavored murals, officials said.
Westbrook cut the ceremonial ribbon at the event and shared words of encouragement with the children.
And his words will live on long after he’s gone: Quotes from former Leuzinger High School and UCLA luminaries adorn the walls of the new facility.
Among them: “Every day, when I go on the field, I will give everything because you never know what tomorrow will bring. »
