To commemorate the studio’s 26th anniversary, Hydro Tec unveiled a 65-meter displacement explorer yacht concept.

The concept is named Vanguard because, since 1580, a British warship has always been named Vanguard. Hydro Tec stated that Vanguard “fully embodies the spirit of the studio” while remaining “firmly rooted in a solid technical foundation.”

Sergio Cutolo, the founder of the studio, stated that he had condensed his 25 years of experience designing explorer yachts into “a single project.”

He added that the design was inspired by the walled mediaeval city of Mont Saint Michel “with its tall walls.”Despite this, Vanguard remains “open to the view and horizon via its windows and terraces.”

Important features on board include a reconfigured GA configuration that creates a “under-lower deck” for technical areas, specifically the engine compartment. This leaves the lower deck for visitor use, providing direct access from guest cabins to the spa and beach club.

A large heated swimming pool is also located on the lower deck, adjacent to the crew accommodations, which consist of cabins and a “canteen”

The main deck features a spacious saloon, dining room, galley larder, and an owner’s suite with two private terraces to port and starboard.

The tender garage is located aft of the main deck and is equipped with deployment cranes and side entrances for the safe launch and retrieval of tenders and toys.

The superstructure, office, and captain’s cabin are located on the upper deck, while a sky lounge with a cinema, outdoor terrace, and helipad are located aft.

In diesel-electric mode, Vanguard’s hybrid propulsion system, comprised of two MTU engines and two electric motors, allows for velocities of up to 10 knots.
