Dr. Dre has “nothing but a ‘G’ thing”! Just days after the legendary rapper, songwriter, and producer agreed to sell a collection of music income streams and some owned music assets to Universal Music and Shamrock Holdings for more than $200 million, he has sold one of his Los Angeles-area properties.
Records indicate that Dre, who recently threatened legal action against congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene for using his iconic 1999 hit “Still D.R.E.” without permission, has sold a palatial estate in the San Fernando Valley neighborhood of Calabasas for exactly $6 million, or $1 million more than he paid for it in the spring of 2018.
According to the listing, the mansion was constructed in the late 1990s in the guard-gated community of Mountain View Estates and has been extensively renovated to the extent of approximately one million dollars to transform it into a showplace. The tan stucco and terracotta-roof building have six bedrooms and seven bathrooms in nearly 9,400 square feet of two-story living space with wide-plank oak floors, vaulted ceilings, designer light fixtures, and high-end granite, marble, and tile finishes.
Nestled in a secluded cul-de-sac on a parcel measuring more than three-quarters of an acre, the house has a gated driveway that winds around to a motor court and an attached garage with space for at least eight vehicles. A portico-topped entryway leads to a double-height foyer with a spiral wrought-iron staircase that leads immediately to a spacious formal dining room and an adjacent sunken living room with a decorative fireplace and French doors leading to the exterior.
In addition, the main level features a spacious gourmet kitchen with an eat-in island, premium stainless steel appliances, a breakfast alcove, and a built-in workstation. The large family room is highlighted by a walk-in wet bar with seating, and there is also a movie theater, a wood-paneled study, a beauty salon, and a sumptuous upstairs master retreat with a seating area by the fireplace, a wraparound balcony, dual walk-in wardrobes, and a luxurious bathroom.
The posh outdoor amenities include a fire-pit lounge, a pool, and a spa surrounded by a flagstone sundeck, a patio kitchen, a standalone pizza oven, a sports court, and a charming stone fountain, all of which overlook picturesque hillside views.
In addition to his recently sold Calabasas property, the 57-year-old Compton native’s modern vacation residence on Carbon Beach in Malibu is currently listed for $20 million. Dre still maintains a second property in Calabasas, but his primary residence is a $40 million Brentwood estate he purchased from Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen nearly a decade ago.
