The owner of the LVMH empire, billionaire Bernard Arnault: Went to eat at a restaurant in Paris and immediately spent money to buy it for himself because he loved it so much

LVMH is a conglomerate that owns 70 brands that dominate the world of luxury goods. And the company’s owner, billionaire Bernard Arnault, is not only a man with exquisite taste but also a connoisseur of traditional culinary flavors. That is shown by the fact that the man with 194 billion USD in his hands is willing to buy a wine bar called Chez L’ami Louis located in the heart of Paris, France to add to his own collection of assets.

Chez L’ami Louis was founded in 1924, and has now become a family, standing shoulder to shoulder with famous designer fashion brands, high-end jewelry and hotels such as Louis Vuitton, Céline, Givenchy, Fendi, Donna Karan…

Dubbed the true jewel of Paris, Chez L’ami Louis is located at 32 Vertbois Street, District 3 of Paris, founded by chef Antoine Magnin. After a century of operation, the restaurant’s appearance has remained virtually unchanged and it still sits modestly to this day.

With only 40 tables and a French-inspired decor, Chez L’ami Louis has still attracted Europe’s richest man Bernard Arnault and other celebrities such as Bill Clinton, Jacques Chirac, US Vice President Kamala Harris, soccer player David Beckham, actor Johnny Depp… Even judges and bankers often come here to enjoy delicious dishes.

The most famous here are the whole roasted chicken that costs more than 100 USD, the asparagus and snail dish that costs up to 60 USD. The restaurant also has delicious lamb and fatty foie gras to serve the rich gourmet souls.

LVMH’s acquisition of the restaurant is not a sign of change but a commitment to preserve what has been working for this 100-year-old restaurant. In a press release, LVMH said it would do its best to maintain the restaurant’s unique characteristics and identity, while continuing to support Chez L’ami Louis’s French culinary expertise and knowledge.

According to CNBC, the company did not disclose the size of the stake or the value of the deal. However, the European billionaire’s dining experience must have been very good for him to agree to “put down money” to buy the restaurant like that. The last time Mr. Bernard was seen dining in Paris was in 2023 with Elon Musk at Cheval Blanc, a luxury hotel chain owned by LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton.
