Serena Williams and her older sister Venus are relaxing in her newly furnished home office on Zoom on another quaint Sunday afternoon under quarantine. Just two months have passed since the tennis greats faced off in the Top Seed Open in Kentucky, their first competition since the CоVID-19 pаndemic-related forced layoff. The well-known duo, who have been together for 23 years after their first match, have been best friends, rivals, teammates, and long-term housemates. They are laughing as they think back on the five years they spent working together on their biggest project to date: creating Serena’s dream home.
Serena split her time between secondary homes in Bel-Air and Paris after co-owning a Palm Beach Gardens property where the Grand Slam duo lived together intermittently since 1998. She then bought a sprawling waterfront property of her own, with breathtaking views in a sought-after enclave north of Miami, just minutes away from Venus and their parents. She naturally went to Venus’s exclusive design business, V Starr, to help make the home perfect for her own family.
Serena, 39, showed Architectural Digest her 14,500-square-foot Florida residence this month, revealing that sister Venus Williams and her interior design firm V Starr helped make it her ideal home.
Know your lane. “I’m good at tennis, but not interiors,” she remarked of having help designing the house. “But watching Venus taught me.”
Serena and Alexis Ohanian, who had just started dating, now live there with their 3-year-old daughter Olympia.
