Eminem Makes Surprise Oscars Appearance to Perform ‘Lose Yourself’: ‘Sorry It Took Me 18 Years’
Eminem made his big show debut eighteen years after winning the Oscar.
The rapper, eighteen years after the song won him the big award, surprised everyone on Sunday night by performing it. It’s called “Lose Yourself.”
Following Lin-Manuel Miranda’s introduction of a section that examined some of the most recognizable Best Original Song winners, he performed. After that, the montage ended with a clip from Eminem’s 8 Mile, which cut to the rapper and a live symphony band performing on a rising platform at the stage.
The rapper had previously decided that the posh event “wasn’t his sort of gig,” according to the tabloid. Consequently, co-writer Luis Resto received the golden statuette for “Lose Yourself” from Barbra Streisand.
“Hey, what if you got another chance, another chance… I’m honored to be here, @theacademy. Eminem shared a video of Resto accepting the award without him on Instagram and said, “Sorry it took me 18 years to get here.”
