Mike Tyson bought his $35M mansion with a huge playground so his kids can have fun without having to go anywhere

The former home of retired professional boxer Mike Tyson is hitting the market for $8.5 million. Located in Bethesda, M.D., the property is currently owned by Monica Turner, Mr. Tyson’s ex-wife. The couple purchased the house together in 1995 and lived there until the 2000s. Ms. Turner, who is now 54, decided to keep the house after their divorce.

The estate is situated about 30 minutes outside Washingtоn, D.C., offering stunning views of the Congressional Country Club golf course. Over the years, Ms. Turner, a medical doctor, has expanded the property, acquiring an adjacent lot and extending the house. Today, the property boasts seven bedrooms and spans approximately 19,000 square feet. It includes luxurious amenities like a spacious gym, a pool, a sports court, a piano room, a media room, and a game room. The entryway features large windows overlooking the garden and the golf course.

Ms. Turner’s favorite part of the house is the master suite, which has its own living room and fireplace. The master closet has a unique dry cleaner-style conveyor belt for her clothes, including the gowns gifted to her by Mr. Tyson.

Ms. Turner fondly remembers the adventures she had while living on the property with the former heavyweight boxing champion, including an incident where Mr. Tyson’s pet white tiger cub, Kenya, got lost on the grounds. After an anxiоus search, the cub was found on a neighbor’s property.

The Congressional Country Club has hosted numerous professional golf tournaments, and Ms. Turner recalls her children cheering on Tiger Woods with signs while bouncing on a trampoline in the garden.

Now that her youngest child has graduated from college, Ms. Turner feels the property has become too large for her needs, prompting her decision to sell.

Since retiring from boxing, Mr. Tyson, now 53, has ventured into acting and appeared in movies such as “The Hangover.”
