Nearly two years after his bone-breaking motorbike accident, Jay Leno was spotted riding a rare, opulent motorcycle in Los Angeles on Thursday. It is thought to be worth around $250K.
74-year-old TV personality, who recently joked that he is ‘two-faced’ after undergoing operations after a motorcycle crash and gas fire, was spotted flashing a peace sign while driving along a street.
The celebrity took pleasure in riding a 1934 Brough Superior SS100, sometimes known as the “Rolls-Royce of Motorcycles.”
Leno wore a pair of traditional denim pants and a blue button-up shirt that was somewhat loosened around the collar.
Jay also put on a helmet over his head and slipped into a pair of black sneakers that were tied with laces.
George Brough created the Brough Superior SS100 in England in 1924, and it was only partially produced until 1940.
Notably, in 1925, T.E. Lawrence, popularly known as Lawrence of Arabia, bought one of the earliest motorcycles.
The talk show presenter is well-known for having an amazing collection of motorbikes and cars, estimated to be worth $50 million.
Leno was ‘clotheslined’ while riding one of his vintage motorcycles earlier in January of last year, which resulted in an accident.
The celebrity had multiple injuries as a result of the event, including two broken ribs and a shattered collarbone.
“I was knocked off my motorcycle just last week,” Jay said in an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal at the time.
I have a fractured collarbone. I have two fractured ribs. “I have two cracked kneecaps,” he added, “but I’m ‘okay’ and still ‘working.'”
He said, “I cut through a parking lot after turning down a side street, and I had no idea that someone had a wire strung across the lot without a flag hanging from it.”
I didn’t notice it until it was too late, you know. I was knocked off the bike after it simply clotheslined me. The bike continued to go, and you know how that goes.
Jay had already experienced a terrible catastrophe just months before to the incident, when a steam engine from an antique car he was working on exploded in his face.
As part of the recovery procedure, the actor spent days in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber after suffering three-degree burns.
In an interview with Page Six in May of last year, Leno provided an update after the motorbike accident and gas fire.
“I’m doing well!” “I’m doing well,” he said to the publication. It’s all right! I’m all right. Look, you’re luckier than most people when you’re in my shoes and a celebrity of any sort.
‘So when something awful occurs to you, you can’t whine and complain about it because bad things happen to people every day – they get cut or burned – and they don’t have the financial wherewithal I did,’ he continued.
Then Jay made a joke about how “people love to see rich people catch on fire” because “as long as you look okay, you’re okay” in Hollywood.
How you feel isn’t actually important to anyone. According to the talk show presenter, “show business is fleeting.” “It’s fun, and you enjoy it while you can.” On certain days, you’re well-liked. You’re not every day.
Following the two mishaps, Leno made a hilarious remark about being “two-faced” at the 2024 Daytime Beauty Awards late last month in September, according to E! News.
He gave Dr. Peter Grossman, the surgeon who operated on him after the gas fire and bike accident, a trophy while he was on stage.
Leno told the audience, “I guess I am officially a two-faced b****** now.”
He also recalled the fire while he was walking the red carpet at the event, saying it was “seamless” to have a “brand new face.”
It took me nine days to recuperate. It wasn’t too horrible because I missed two days of work. It’s better than my face, so I’ll accept it.
Leno said on stage that after the gas fire, he was brought to the Grossman Burn Center, but that same evening, he returned home to spend time with his wife, Mavis, who has been diagnosed with dementia.
Following their 1980 marriage, the TV star was awarded conservatorship over his wife earlier this year in April.
I see my wife as I drive home, and I fall asleep without realizing this is still burning. I can’t take the pillow off my face when I wake up. I’m trying to cut the pillow off as I’m sitting there with scissors. Dr. Grossman then removed the pillow from my face.
But after his motorbike accident two months later, he went back to see the same physician.
“A guy had a wire across the road when I was riding my motorcycle, and my face got torn.”
Jay went on, “Listen, I need another face,” I remarked over the phone to Dr. Grossman. I simply need another face, even though the one you had before was fantastic.
