Sylvester Stallone has refuted rumors that his dog caused his 25-year marriage to fail.
According to reports, Stallone’s wife, Jennifer Flavin, filed for divorce on Wednesday, August 24, after they got into a fight over a young Rottweiler named Dwight.
It was claimed that the disagreement began because Stallone wanted the dog for “protection” and Flavin didn’t want another animal. This supposedly resulted in a “extremely heated argument that brought up other issues.”
However, Stallone is refuting claims that the couple’s breakup was caused by his dog.
The 76-year-old “Rocky” star told TMZ, “We didn’t end the relationship over such a trivial argument,” but he acknowledged that the couple had a disagreement about “how to take care of the dog,” as they frequently travel and split up their residences.
According to Stallone, the pair was just moving “in different directions” when they abruptly split up.
“I hold Jennifer in the highest regard. He will always be loved by me. She is a remarkable woman. “She is the most amazing person I’ve ever encountered,” he continued.
He also addressed the issue of Flavin’s tattoo, which featured a picture of his dog, Dwight.
Before revealing that he still had a tattoo of his ex-wife on his back, the Expendables star stated that he tried to “freshen up” his Flavin tattoo but “messed up and the dog was just a no-nonsense tweak.”
According to an exclusive revelation by Page Six, Flavin’s divorce filing last week “blindsided” Stallone. He was “shocked” to learn of the news while filming the Paramount+ series Tulsa King in Oklahoma City.
“I regret to announce that after 25 years of marriage I have filed for divorce from my husband Sylvester Stallone,” Flavin stated to People.
“While we will no longer be married, I will always cherish the 30-plus year relationship we shared and know we are both devoted to our beautiful daughters,” she said.
In 1988, when Flavin was a 19-year-old model and Stallone was 42 and had already gone through two divorces, the couple began dating. The couple was married in 1997 after getting back together, and they have three daughters: Sophia, Sistine, and Scarlet.
