Nicole Shanahan pocketed more than $1 billion after divorcing Google co-founder Sergey over alleged affair with Elon Musk

After her divorce from her ex-husband and Google co-founder Sergey Brin, Nicole Shanahan, the vice presidential candidate selected by independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., reportedly took home over $1 billion.

Last year, Shanahan, a 38-year-old Californian who practiced law in Silicon Valley before going into politics, completed her divorce from Brin. She allegedly had an affair with Brin’s longtime friend, tech tycoon Elon Musk, which led to their breakup.

According to The New York Times, Shanahan used hallucinogenic mushrooms, cocaine, and ketamine for recreational purposes while attending parties with other Silicon Valley tech professionals during their five-year marriage.

The Times reports that amid lockdowns during the coronavirus pandemic, the couple grappled with their daughter’s autism diagnosis, which led to tensions in their marriage.

Brin and Shanahan discovered that Echo, their daughter, has autism in 2020. According to the Times, Shanahan was prompted to consider if vaccinations might have played a role in her daughter’s autism diagnosis.

Without Brin, Shanahan began to go out more, the Times reported. At an event in Miami in early 2021, she partied so hard that she required an intravenous infusion following a night of excessive drug and drink use, according to the publication.

On the fringes of the Art Basel event in late 2021, Shanahan went to a private party in Miami hosted by Kimbal Musk, the brother of Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

The Times claims that Musk and Shanahan both took ketamine before going missing for a few hours.

According to the Times, Shanahan eventually admitted to having sex with Musk to her ex-husband, Brin. She also disclosed the affair to counselors, friends, and family.

Musk has denied having a sexual relationship with Shanahan. The Wall Street Journal was the first to report on the encounter in 2022.

At a gathering in early 2022, Musk reportedly knelt down and apologized to Brin, pleading for his forgiveness, according to the Journal.

According to reports, Brin and Musk’s friendship soured so severely as a result of the alleged romance that the Google co-founder sold his shares in Tesla and other companies held by Musk.

Musk denied that he was no longer friendly with Brin. He shared a picture of the two of them at a party in the San Francisco Bay Area with The Post shortly after the story was published.

Shanahan refuted the allegation as well, telling People that she and Musk were talking about how to treat her daughter’s autism.

Last year, Shanahan told People, “My career has been built on academic and intellectual credibility, and I was being shamed internationally for being a cheater.”

“One of the most humiliating things is to be known for a sexual act… it was completely debilitating.”

After the alleged affair, Brin and Shanahan split up two weeks later. He claimed “irreconcilable differences” when he filed for divorce a few months later.

According to the Times, Shanahan threatened to hurt herself during the 18-month-long divorce procedures between Brin, the eighth-richest man in the world with a net worth estimated by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index at $148 billion.

A few weeks prior to her eventual marriage to tech investor Jeremy Kranz, Brin and Shanahan met at a yoga festival in July 2014.

According to the Times, Kranz found text communications between his new wife and Brin on her phone a few days after he and Shanahan were married in August 2014.

Only 27 days after the wedding, Kranz then attempted to have the marriage dissolved. According to the publication, Kranz had intended to claim fraud as the grounds for the annulment, but Shanahan was concerned that a fraud claim might compromise her legal profession.

The Times claims that during her negotiations with Kranz, Shanahan even threatened to hurt herself.
