Will Smith’s wife says his slap at Chris Rock at the Oscars ‘saved’ their marriage

In an interview with Daily Mail, Jada Pinkett Smith confirmed that Will Smith’s “famous” slap of Chris Rock during the Oscars was a “lifesaver” for their marriage.

“After years of trying to figure out whether I should leave Will Smith or not, that slap is what made me realise I would never leave him,” she said. “Who Who knows what our relationship would be like if that didn’t happen.”

When Chris Rock made a joke about Jada’s hair loss, Will Smith stormed onto the stage at the 2022 Oscars and gave him a slap. But according to Jada, this behaviour indicates the Oscar-winning actor is drawn to her.

“Now I call it the divine slap because so many positive things happened after that,” the wife and mum continued, “That moment is when you realise where you really are.”

The couple has been apart since 2016, as Jada had previously disclosed, but the actress has subsequently stated that their marriage is still intact and they plan to stay together forever.

“My relationship with Will is similar to that of… We had some separate excursions for a while, and then we went on several trips together.” “I feel like we went to a really beautiful place together,” Jada said, “and I’m so happy.” I’m at last content in this phase of my life.”
