After a decade of legal battle, Arnold Schwarzenegger and his ex-wife are finally officially divorced

Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger are officially divorced more than ten years after their split.

According to TMZ, a private judge approved the divorce earlier in December 2021, and an acting judge entered it into the Los Angeles Superior Court system Tuesday morning.

The journalist filed for divorce in July 2011 when it was revealed that he had fathered a child, Joseph Baena, with their housekeeper Mildred Patricia ‘Patty’ Baena, and the couple stayed apart for years, according to Dailymail.

According to TMZ, a complicated property settlement agreement and a lack of motivation caused the divorce to drag on for ten years.

According to TMZ, an asset valued at approximately $400 million was involved in the property transaction, which is confidential. Everything was essentially divided between the pair, according to insiders who spoke to the publication.

Arnold filed a “disclosure statement” over the summer that said the case was “coming to an end,” according to court records that The Blast was able to get.

The site was informed by sources that the ex-couple “were trying to work things out and this is a good sign that they are moving closer to divorce.”

Before they ‘may enter into a final agreement, such as a decree judgment, dividing assets or addressing support issues,’ divorcing spouses must exchange a final disclosure declaration, according to Farzad Law.

Arnold’s divorce lawsuit with Maria had not been resolved for almost four years before to his most recent appearance, “the latest being a change of address for one of Arnold’s lawyers.”

While Arnold recruited Kristina Royce, Maria was represented by famous divorce lawyer Laura Wasser.

On October 2, 1997, a few days after Maria gave birth to Christopher, the couple’s fourth child, Joseph was born.

However, it wasn’t until May 2011 that it was discovered the maid’s child was actually his.

It wasn’t until he was seven or eight years old that the “Terminator” movie actor realized Joseph was his kid.

Because she was friends with the maid, who had worked in their Los Angeles home for many years and had faith in her, Shriver was allegedly distraught.

Furthermore, it was heartbreaking to learn that the maid’s husband was the real father of her son.

In a 2017 interview with OBJECTified, the former governor responded, “I don’t need time to reflect, when I know it was a great and great separation,” when questioned about Maria’s divorce petition and how he had time to think.

There was no prenuptial agreement in place when Maria and Arnold got married in 1986. Together, they have four children: Christopher, 24, Patrick, 28, Christina, 30, and Katherine, 32.

At the age of 24, Jozefi has a tight relationship with his father, an action star.

Over the years, Maria and Arnold maintained their closeness despite their breakup, and they have since started dating.

While Maria was seeing Matthew Dowd, Arnold has been seeing Heather Milligan, a physical therapist, for almost eight years.
