The Multiverse Saga is currently being developed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Since this chapter began three years ago and has three more to go, we are actually currently in the middle of it.
Even though the saga is halfway done, the MCU hasn’t yet unveiled a new Avengers lineup, and after the events of Avengers: Endgame, it’s obvious that this will have changed.
This may be a painful reminder, but Steve Rogers and Tony Stark are no longer with us. Since Iron Man and Captain America were perhaps the MCU’s biggest stars, there is a significant void that needs to be filled.
Unlike Tony Stark, the MCU does not currently have a “face.” The projects of The Multiverse Saga are not all connected by a single thread.
There is undoubtedly a strategy, especially since Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for release in 2026. It’s merely a scheme that we are unaware of.
Fans are speculating about what that strategy would be in the interim by analyzing whether current characters might be able to fill the role.
Peter Parker seems like a clear favorite, along with maybe Thor and Wanda.
Naturally, it all relies on which executives believe will generate the highest box office receipts and which tale makes the most sense to have run throughout the MCU.
Spidey and Doctor Strange might be our next big couple, according to Reddit user AdditionalInitial727, who wrote, “[They’ve] already built up a relationship of love and conflict.” Both were influenced by the multiverse directly. They might be Steve and Stark in reverse.
“Strange is older but can be reckless trying to save the day,” they added. Pete has a stronger moral compass despite being younger. Spider-Man is an easy billion-dollar figure, and Strange’s sequel has nearly boosted his brand to $1 billion.
Thor and Loki were ranked as the most likely pairing by the user, followed by Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch.
To be honest, T’Challa and Doctor Strange should be the two main characters if Chadwick were still alive. BigReek99 commented, “I think those two are the only ones who can run a universe without Cap and Tony.”
Is everyone here overlooking the fact that Sam Wilson is [the] new Cap? Usangajunkie was added.
“100% this was supposed to be Strange and Black Panther, with Captain Marvel as the ‘Thor’ type character who’d come in as a heavy hitter later on,” agreed BetaRayPhil616.
“Personally, my big three for the next saga would be Sam Wilson’s Cap, Doctor Strange and Captain Marvel,” wrote Random_dud, and I’m starting to see a pattern develop.
I must admit that I’m shocked that Spidey wasn’t highlighted more, but I’m ecstatic that Captain Marvel is receiving some recognition.
Last night, I rewatched The Marvels, and my goodness, I love those characters. I hope to see Carol and Kamala again soon.
Perhaps in 2026, we’ll be watching Doctor Strange, Sam Wilson’s Cap, and Captain Marvel leading the team going, “I told you so”.
