Willow Smith claimed that the term “nepo baby” inspired her to work hard to “prove them wrong.”
The singer, 23, daughter of affluent parents Will Smith, 55, and Jada Pinkett Smith, 52, acknowledged that because of her upbringing, she was “wrongly internalizing the negativity from the outside,” but she was adamant about forging her own path.
“I think that a little bit of insecurity has driven me harder because people think that the only reason I’m successful is because of my parents,” she said in an interview with Allure magazine.
That has motivated me to put forth a lot of effort to try to disprove them. However, I no longer have to prove [anything] to anyone.
“I genuinely think thаt I hаve а strоng spirit аnd thаt I wоuld still be а weirdо аnd а crаzy thinker even if my pаrents were sоmeоne else.”

“Being black in America, even with privilege—which I will never deny—you’re still black,” she clarified.

After that, the singer addressed reports that she is “difficult” to deal with, saying that people are misinterpreting her desire to “get to that goal.” “I’ve always been afraid of coming across as difficult,” the woman stated. A woman who is aware of her desires is always viewed as “difficult” in this society.
Not that I’m being picky; I just know what I want. And I’m prepared to give up the laid-back atmosphere to pursue that objective.
